Frankly, I wish all this bickering would stop once and for all.

Just guessing , sitting here in my apathy.

Julia, I do....what makes you think I don't?

Eric, I thought you had a LIFE that you controlled.

Excuse me! Where did I say you can take a photo off the internet and legally use it?! Oh...and ehow is widely known as the end-all legally authority! LOL

And you're wrong again, I've had some nice discussions with people here. Apparently you choose to only read the negative ones.

The rest of your post just didn't make any sense. I could get fined or thrown in jail for posting my own photos online?!

You're incorrect about the DMCA. I have no idea what you're talking about with Walmart Studio. I couldn't find anything in the document you linked about Walmart.

Eric, you are wrong, you can not legally take a photo off the internet and just use it. Nor can you just post any photo either. You may want to read http://www.ehow.com/facts_6152049_digital-photo-copyright-law.html

With that I am done engaging with you. For DAYS you have argued everything anyone has posted on here. As I stated earlier I have things in my life to do, I have provided several links, and no just by posting online you no longer own the rights is wrong and could get you thrown in jail or fined. Also under the DMCA of 1998, photos are included, so if you have a photo from WalMart Studio you can not legally transmit that online. fact? YES!

I didn't realize it was a debate, I just asked a question. Guess you didn't have the answer.

Julia,
I dont know what was going on exactly with you and Eric, but I will not debate with him. I have better things with my time than to engage in a petty debate. If I want a debate, I'd join a site or group for that. I joined this site to share idea's and what nots with people. It has always been a genealogical debate if a genealogist should get paid or not for their work, and to a degree yes, anyone who does a lot of research or time should be given credit for that work. Several sites have membership dues, you have to pay for documents from court houses, ect.

Who is buying and publishing people's family photos and headstones for profit? I'm not saying it isn't happening, just that I'm not aware of it. I really don't care if someone makes money off of a photo i've put on the internet. Once I upload it, it's no longer mine...that's the nature of the internet, right or wrong.
