Hi Folks

Trust you are all safe and well.

i am undertaking a research project on the passengers who arrived in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia on the Torilla (1911) and Roscommon (1912) to see if any new each other prior to departure or after arrival. Surprisingly, a surname Rae is on the list of Roscommon passengers and I have this surname in a recent generation so my challenge is are these Rae passengers related? So, anybody with Rae's in their tree please contact me and I can give you details.

Cheers

Brian

I am Brian Maclachlan from Australia. My father was Charles Rossini Lawson Maclachlan born in Preston, England and married to Margaret Kant Russell. My father and mother both came to Australia in the early 1910s as very young children. My grandfather Walter Maclachlan was born in Mhow, Bengal in 1872 where his father Robert was in the British Army.

i recently graduated and continue to study currently about to start the Development Certificate. My ancestry research has one branch of my pedigree back to the early 900s with a heavy focus on Scotland before moving on to the continent.

i would welcome any contact.

Brian

I am researching Duncan Maclachlan (mother last name Cameron). He married Jane MacRae. They show as born in Nova Scotia 1850ish and are in California by 1870.I cannot verify Duncan's parents or siblings.

I'm looking for the parents of my earliest McGlaughlin (etc) of Surry co, NC. Thomas and siblings were orphaned and placed in families (May 1819 court records) As of yet, I can not find the parents names. Does anyone know how to find these records? We range from Rowan-Stokes- up to Wythe co, Virginia from 1819 to the 1870s, and I believe there is a wide group of relatives that no one remembers anymore. Is anyone missing McGlaughlin relatives from then? :))

Douglas John Lauchlan - my father was born October 16th 1883 and died in 1952.
He talked a lot about Caithness and we children assumed that was his birthplace. When He died the death certificate listed it as Glasgow. He married my mother in London in 1915 and his father was listed as John Lauchlan - Soldier. We were told that he was placed in a military school as a very young boy by an uncle. He was a gunner in the Royal Field Artillery during WW1.
I have his number and the company etc, but so far have had little luck in finding out anything else. If anyone has any suggestions about finding more infor I would be eternally grateful. I did check his birth with Scotlands People with
out any luck- so it is possible that he was illegitimate and registered under his mothers name in a parish record.Which of course makes it even more difficult.
I need all the help I can get. My email is bette144@aol.com. Thaanks for taking the time to read this.

My g-grandfather Terence McLaughlin was born 1 may 1815, I think in Co Antrim, he arrived in Canada as per the 1901 C. in 1841, his brothers name was Patrick and the family said there were 2 other brothers who came with them , but stayed in Quebec or went to the States. When he married on the 29 Jan 1846 at the Holy Name of Mary, Marysville, Hastings Cty, ON. he said he was from the parish of Kilwater (the way it is spelled) Kilwaughter, Antrim, and his parents were John McLaughlin and Margaret Mc Carm Mc Cann, it was hard to read, his wife was Mary Laughlin, daughter of George Laughlin and Elizabeth Holahan, I have see her mothes name spelled a number of ways, I cannot seem to find anything in Ireland. Mary Laughlin was born in Qubec.

My husband's farthest McLaughlin ancestor was John McLaughlin who was born about 1717, probably in Scotland as he was a Presbyterian. He settled in the mid 1700s in Tinicum Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania and later moved to Rowan County, North Carolina where he died about 1779. He was a captain in the local militias He was married to Mary Hart, daughter of Samuel Hart and Elizabeth. His known children were John H. McLaughlin who married Rebecca Harvey; Samuel McLaughlin whose wife's name was probably Clementine; James McLaughlin who married Anne Hart whose brother William was executor of her husband's estate; Elizabeth; Martha; Mary who was married to Duncan Johnson and Eleanor who was probably born in Rowan County and died there as well. If I had to guess, I would say that Captain James McLaughlin's father's name was John since his oldest son was named John but that's speculation on my part. I have no idea where in Scotland they would have immigrated from. The surname is listed as McLauglin, MacLaughlin, McGothlin, etc.
