I'm arriving a few years after everyone else but...I am searching for descendants of Thomas B. and Mary Creighton McGinnis. Thomas was born in Ireland , probably Co Meath, and came to Rhode Island where he and Mary married. During the 1870's they moved west and by 1880 were in White Hall. Greene Co, IL. By 1900 they had moved to Chicago. Tom and Mary and several of their children are buried in MT. Carmel Cemetery outside Chicago. Two of their daughters married and had children. Kathleen married Jerry McCarthy and had two daughters and Jewel married Clarence Reardon and had one son, Lamar or Larry. I'm looking to connect with the next generation. My great grandmother, Catherine McGuinness (RI Spelling) Keefe and Thomas B. were siblings and I am the only great grandchild she had.

My McGinnis ancestress who went from Armagh to Ontario was Mary Margaret MacGinnis, known as Emma (MM, get it?). I have no other family members for certain. She married Stephen Henry Rogers in Peel County in 1852. No certain family names on the marriage record. She was born about 1830 in Ireland, so she arrived sometime between birth and marriage. She died in 1883, after producing 9 children. There is a McInnis family from Ireland (James, Margret, James, Margaret, Sarah, William, Jacob, Thomas) in the 1851 census for Markham, York County, but I need more info before I can say if it is the right family or not. Hoping to find descendants.
Thank you

My McGinnis family is from Wisconsin, and I'm not sure where they are from in Ireland. Our counties are Outagamie and Calumet. As far as I can tell, they came to Wisconsin in about 1848, settling first in Menasha, working on the canals, and then to Greenville.

Hi Gene. If you use http://pilot.familysearch.org/ you can search several census years. By tracking backwards I found your Samuel with his first wife Katie living with what are probably his parents Orval and Catherine, living in Embarrass, Edgar, Illinois in 1870. They have a 2 year old son Orval.

The 1900 census for Louisville, Clay, Illinois shows Maude's father as S. S. McGinnis b. Nov 1845 in Indiana, both parents b. Indiana. Ella b May 1856 in Indiana, father b Indiana, mother b KY They were md in 1878

The 1880 census finds the family in Robinson, Crawford, Illinois and that's where you will see that Samuel had to be married before Ella. There is a 12 year old son Orval who would have been born long before Ella married Samuel circa 1878.

You can get full details by getting those census records and checking others. Good luck!
