Love Newfoundland but only have one ancestor that I know of who may be from Newfoundland, Elizabeth Jane GRIMSTEAD (1858-1885). It appears she was supposed to have been born in Newfoundland around 1858 to parents John Grimstead and Jane (maiden name unknown). the family had moved to Brantford Ontario by 1871. This is a brick wall currently so if anyone here has any leads I would be grateful!
My Dads side of family was from Newfoundland and Canada. Besides my Grandpa I had never met any relatives from his side. By the time I was a adult they both had alzheimer's and couldn't tell me anything about my family. I assume any family documents were inherited by his wife's family so I really need help. My grandpas marriage cert. told me they were from Gooseberry. and it said my great grandparents were arthur taylor and mary perry- my grandpa roy taylor was born in vancouver in 1901 my grandma gertrude exa berry was born in florida married in vancouver- does anyone have them in their trees? thanks
Hi all;
This was posted on FB, just wondering if anyone has access to Newfoundland newspapers from 1965 and be willing to look for this clipping. I did some editing on the blurb.
This newspaper clipping we think was in the St. John's NFLD newspaper, probably in June or July of 1965. As you can see, the first part of it has been cut off, probably what identifies this little girl who now lives here in BC. She was adopted from this photo, we think. Her adoptive mother has recently died and she found this while cleaning out her safe. Can anyone out there help us find her natural family? Anybody want to go sleuthing through micro-fiche / microfilm in a library back there? She was told she is from Cornerbrook but the back of this clipping mentions streets in St. John's. Please SHARE this everyone!
