My husband has a set of 3rd great grandparents whose given names were Remembrance (male) and Truelove (female).
My own given name is also pretty unusual. Have never met another Carldine but have run across a few (unrelated) in researching.

How many of you have run across the same name used in multiple generations. I have an entire family that used the same series of five names in three subsequent generations and although not unusual names it makes for a very tangled web to dig through. In fact, even on census and other records the Daniels in one generation are listed as Daniel of D, Daniel of R, etc etc as the first generation re-used their names for their children so I have three sets of first cousins all named alike.

The longest unbroken chain for a first name I have is seven generations. It's six for the same middle name

My great-great-great-grandfather and two of his brothers had the names of Tennessee counties: Davidson (my ancestor), Robertson, and Montgomery Binkley. Yes, they were born and raised in Tennessee!

My great grandmother's name was Amaranthe. She's only corrected name in 2 records!
My great-great-great-great grandmother's name was Ahenoam. Surprisingly, she went by Henna or Hinny! :-D One of her daughters was Diadama and another daughter was named Ahenoam as well.
Just browing through the various families, we have Albania (female), Seamon, Alcanzer (female) and probably a lot, lot more...

Here are just some of the names in my family (or from family friends):

Feldra, Credence, Montelou, Cindalou, Davette (named after Dave), Lehman, Ellenora Marvilla, Adelphia, Ragnar, and Delzena.

These may not be the strangest names you've ever heard but I think they are pretty unusual.

I searched for a friend last year and I am not making this up.

Nixon Covey and his wife Susan Willoughby Covey of Kentucky had the following names among their children:

1.Zantippaarin Elizabeth Covey
2. Susan Ann Elizabeth Mariah Louisa Josephine Covey
3. William Leonida Lycurgus Covey
4. Mary Cockrell Paulina Bohannon Covey
5.Jeremiah Weldon South Lewis Morgan Cornett Harrison Covey
6. Daniel Benjamin Franklin Covey

Imagine trying to find them on the census... one year you are Jeremiah, the next Weldon and the next Lewis and the same person.

I am sure the first born sister Minerva Jane either was happy to not have such a long name or felt like she missed something.

I got a chuckle last week when doing research on a job that I ran across

Green Pickle Some of the other names in the Pickle family were Clementine, Greenberry and Basil.
