My husband is the 3rd great grandson of Thomas J Taylor b abt 1812 married to Catherine Staley b abt 1823 married in Wythe County, VA in 1838. On the 1860 & 1870 census they were in Hunt County, TX. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

There is a "Taylor Family Genealogy" forum. This forum where you left a comment is named

"William Taylor Family of South Carolina (1776-1864)"

If you have more ideas on being more spcific, I'll be glad to hear them.

Teresa,
I would suggest that you change the name of this Forum to something else. The Forum says it is about Taylor Family Genealogy and I do believe I am in the direct line of the Taylor family...

Chip,

I think that line is not related unless way back. This Taylor line has been in SC since about 1800. There is another Taylor group on Genealogywise that I am also on that is more general. You also might try the Taylor mailing list on Rootsweb--you have to subscribe.

Here is my Taylor line:
Jesse Gerald Taylor, Jr (me) <-- Jesse Gerald Taylor Sr. <-- Jesse Lee Taylor (1894-1928 WVa)<-- John Lee Taylor (1869-1937 WVa) <-- Levi Johnson Taylor (1844-1873, WVa <-- Jesse M Taylor (1809-1898 Philadelphia) <-- Jesse Taylor <-- Frazier Taylor <-- John Taylor. Those earlier than Jesse M Taylor are pretty much undocumented. I'd love to discuss this line with someone!

My Taylor family is from Kent England. My gg grandmother is Ann Taylor born in Warden Sheppey 21 Dec 1819 the daughter of John Taylor and Rebecca Rogers. John Taylor married Rebecca 13 Oct 1818 in Leysdown Sheppey. According to census info John Taylor was born around 1796 in Folkstone. As yet I've been unable to find any other info about him. The other children of John and Rebecca were Jonathan, William George and Eliza.

I'm interested in a TAYLOR family in Kent, England near the Canterbury/.Faversham area. My grandmother told the story her name should have been TAYLOR instead of what it was (MUTTON) but that her grandfather was born a TAYLOR and taken in by the MUTTON family and he took their name. I have proof to some degree as her grandfather's marriage cert list his father as George TAYLOR and his name was at that point George Taylor MUTTON. This marriage took place in the Parish of Blean between George Taylor MUTTON and Jane HOLNESS on July 4th 1847. If any of this sounds like it fits into your TAYLORs, I'd love to hear from you!
