My mother was born a Throop, descended from William Throope(1637-1704) and Mary Chapman Throope (1643-1732).
Being interested in the Soule lineage in its various spellings, I joined this Group so as to keep up on any research developments that are found in both the US and in England.
I have a comment over on the Soule Group side that some of you may find interesting about the story that my Dad lold me as a kid growing up.
One person that I have been trying to find is one John B.L. Soule. John was a reporter for a newspaper in Terra Haute IN, and is believed to have coined the phrase GO WEST, YOUNG MAN, GO WEST. on Wickipedia, if you put that in, you will find a link, the first one listed, I think to the discussion. Under "The Controversy" you will find the reference to John B.L. Soule. Again, my Father told me of this guy way back when, and Paul Harvey even featured this little factiod in his REST OF THE STORY seried roughly ten years ago.
If anyone knows of this particular John, I would really like to know who he was.
