The family name is derived from wheat field. Possibly it is also derived from the Oxfordshire village of the same name. The surname has a clear East Midlands focus even with modern data (2000-2005)

My great grandfather was Thomas Bird b. Coventry England 1834, he married Ann Wheatley, daughter of William Wheatley, she was born May 20, 1850 in England. I would like any further info on this Wheatley family. Ann eventually moved to Boston, Sulfolk, Massachusetts with 2 of her children after Thomas died.
My Wheatley connection is Sarah A Wheatley born 1827 Tn and she died 1904 and is buried in Oklahoma she was married to John Douglass Davis. I have read that they got married in Tishimingo co Ms in 1848 but I have yet to find that or proof for that matter. Anyone else have Sarah wheatley in thier line??
