Thanks for the welcome. My husband's family is both Powell and Jones, but I don't recognize either name from his genealogy. The Shipp is probably related to my family since some of the Shipps left GA and settled all over AL. I don't recall a Joe Shipp in my direct line.
Thanks Sherry for the info. Goins is from my father-in-law's side and includes Choctaw Indian's in pedigree. Also had a Texas Ranger on his side so glad to see that connection on your page.
Thank you for remembering my birthday.
I'm looking forward to participating in your group. My Great Grandmother ,Mary Catherine Ratliff was born in Pulaski County Virginia.
Her parents were William F. Ratliff & Frances Moore.
She was born 1856 & died 1918.
what email address do I use. I'm sorry, I just don't know my way around in here yet so if you will give me your email, I'll send the picture. Thanks.
Jessie
Sherry,
Thanks for the information on Thomas Shepherd. I do have some info on him, but the info on the town name and state changes is helpful.
I checked out my Priest line and there is no John Priest listed. He may be an off-shoot line, but so far I've kept to the direct line because there are so many people there to get figured out.
Thanks for your help.
Anne
Thank you Sherry. I feel welcome now. It will be awhile before I learn how to use this site. I have my Malcolm DNA at Sorensen but I haven't got a clue on how to read the results or search for a match. It's greek to me! Hopefully I'll learn something here.

Hi Sherry,
Thanks for the invitation. My Rogers originally came from SC and moved to Mississippi, around the Covington county area. There was one branch that moved from Miss. to LA and some from there moved into TX, around the Houston area originally.
I found some Rogers collection papers at a UT library and went through those. It was very interesting and informative. There were letters from some kids who ran away from their home and went up to Austin. In one letter to a cousin back in MS told about their journeys up to Austin. In another from a cousin (sheriff) in MS in which he spoke of all the hardships they were enduring while the Siege of Vicksburg was underway.
If this sounds like your family perhaps we could work together.
Is your Hightower connection from Georgia? I have a Hightower connection through my G-G-Grandmother, Caroline Hightower, daughter of George Hightower and Margaret _____ .
Thank you Sherry for your lovely welcome to the group. My 2grgrandmother was Ann Lee, 1844 in Stokenchurch, Oxfordshire, married James Henry Styles, also from Stokenchurch, in West Wycombe in 1864. They had 1 child, James Henry, born in Naphill. 2grgrandfather Styles left Ann Lee, married again and then went off to Australia and married again, lol. His son with Ann came to Canada in 1906. As you well know, the Lee name is huge. I cannot find a death certificate for Ann and I don't know what became of Ann after her husband left. Grgrandfather Styles went to live with his grandparents when his father went to Australia and nothing has been passed down through the family to know just what happened to GGgrandmother Styles, I have done a bit of research, but hit a brick wall very quickly, but have not given up hope. Thanks again for the lovely welcome..........and sorry about the book!
Good morning, Sherry, and thank you for the birthday greeting.
My POOL ancestry is a bit murky. In the 1850 White Co., IN census my ancestor Jeremiah POOL and his new bride lived next to William POOL, who I suspect was his father. I cannot prove the connection yet. All of the POOL's originated in VA according to the census, and the wife of William died in the previous year, according to the 1850 Death Schedule.
My WILKERSON/WILKINSON line is difficult, also. I picked up the thread in Webster Co., MO in 1870. George WILKINSON also used the name WILKERSON at times. The County Clerk told me there had been some sort of family feud and George or is father had begun using an alternative surname. His gravestone has his name as WILKINSON. So, I must dig into both surnames.
I am in a period of transition right now and it isn't possible for me to get to my database. When I can get my computer set up I will share with you what I have; perhaps we can help each other.
Yes, I did receive them, thank you. I have been trying to upload one of the pictures, but no luck. I am clicking browse, finding the picture and clicking open. I also have tried clicking select. What am Idoing wrong?
Hey Sherry, I didn't have a Jefferson Davis Green in my computer. However, I will check my husbands paper files tomorrow (yes we discovered we are very distant cousins.. lol. You really never know what you will find, huh?) and see if he has a Ann Wyatt and Jefferson Davis Green. I haven't gotten his family into my computer yet. I'll get back to you.
