Good luck at the hospital.
Hi there!
Just wanted to let you know there is hope in finding your quest for your ancestors. Many years have gone by and I finally cracked a brick wall last week that I thought would never happen. Turns out sometimes it helps to follow your instincts. Got your nice NY's greeting. Just want to say hello,
Cheers as you always say,
Sarah.
Hi there Albertus,
Just want to wish you a Happy New Year. Hope to get back to genealogy soon. It was a hectic last few months of 2011.
Sarah
http://genforum.genealogy.com/lang/messages/1523.html not sure if you have this . it might help robyn
Hi Albertus,
Nice to hear from you! I had issues too, not with my computer but monitor. Fortunately, I had my old clunker still here so I had to use that for a time as the monitor I ordered did not work so I had to return it to CA and then wait for a replacement.
Sorry to hear that you can't find out any more info about your family you are researching. I still can't find out anything about my John Cole from England either. Once in a while I think I've gotten on to "something" but it never materializes. I haven't had too much time for genealogy lately as we are doing some major much needed landscaping so I've been outside working on that since the Spring and much more to do.
Family is doing OK and thanks for asking. Hope the same is true on your end. I think your situation in finding out any more about your relatives seems unlikely at this point in time but never give up looking. It's really hard to find out much when you are looking in different countries other than your own. Good luck with it and let me know if you make that "great discovery."
Cheers to you too!
Hello!
Thanks for your last correspondence. I have been on GW for a long time and haven't had much extra time for genealogy. It's a busy season and we are in the process of doing a lot of landscaping around our home. It sounds like you aren't getting much info regarding your searching and I know it's frustrating. Every so often something crops up and I think I have a lead on my elusive English ancestor, John Cole but it always comes to a dead end known as that proverbial brick wall. We can't give up hope!
Well, hope all is well with you and yours and apologize for not getting back to you sooner. Cheers, my friend!
Sarah
Hi again, Albertus,
Wow, you are a busy guy! Sometimes when we get into a situation like you have with your Gr. Gr. Grandfather and Gr. Grandfather, it's best to move on to some other things and come back to them. Sometimes when you go back again you find something you didn't "see" at first. However, I admit no matter how many times you might do that you still can't find the illusive information. I have the same issue as I think I explained before. I just had to move on and make new discoveries. I do end up coming back to it as I hate unsolved mysteries. :)
Also, it is true that sometimes people do not tell the truth and hide information from the family. You got a particularly tough one on that situation. No, you don't bore me at all. It's nice to have company in this constant quest we all have to find our ancestors.
Glad to hear you are doing well and fared OK in the floods other than losing power for a week. That's no fun. It's better than being in Japan right now is one way of looking at things. We don't realize how lucky we are until we hear how badly things are for those poor people.
On your plight with Lang, that has to be difficult as it is a rather common name. I have the same issue with people in my ancestry who have very common names. It's hard to track them down. Well, keep the faith and plug away. Maybe some day you'll have that wonderful bit of luck that will give you your answers. Let me know how your research is going.
Cheers, as you say!
Hi Albertus,
Haven't really had much time for GenWise lately and wonder how you are doing? I know you guys "Down Under" had a tough time with all those floods and all and now we got such a crisis going on in Japan. Guess I can't complain at all when you hear about others' tragedies.
How's your research coming?
Hi again,
You asked about my relations and the Coles family was from England. Basically, my roots go back to colonial America and many were founders of the Massachusetts Bay colony. On my other side of the family they were of Irish and German descent. My gr., gr., gr. grandmother was Fanny Munroe of the Munroe clan of Scotland. She married a Seth Cole descended from a John Cole who came to America in 1736 and settled in Kennebunkport, Maine. Many of the Munroes fought in the Battle of Lexington during the Revolutionary War. That is just a brief synopsis.
At the moment I am presently writing a historical and genealogical book on my husband's family who came to this country in the 1800's from the Black Forest Region of Germany. I plan on writing more on my own extended family in the future. Thanks for asking about my roots.
Hope the rain there has finally subsided. How awful that has been. There was much on the news here about it so hope that you fared OK.
Sarah
