Hello my name is Maria:  I am an American O'Brien. I have a family tree but have hit a wall with my 3rd Great Grandfather Thomas O'Brien born in Ireland in 1810 but came to America at some point and married a Sophia Thomas. He settled in Kentucky and died there.  There just seems to be a lot of Thomas O'Brien's born in Ireland around the same time and when I try to trace his passage over, there are a lot of the same named O'Brien's and the same year of birth.  If anyone can help I would really appreciate it.

I have recently found some records for my g-g-grandmother Mary O'Brien who was born on the Muintevarra Peninsula in County Cork and immigrated as a child to NY by 1845. Her father was Humphrey O'Brien (b. about 1815) and mother was Ellen Sullivan. I will be traveling to the area in Ireland this April and I am hoping to learn as much as possible before I get there.  Does anyone have family from this area?

My 12th Great Grandmother was Ellen O'Brien she Married Denis Cremeen/cremins some where around Mallow Cork Ireland,ABT 1620 He was my 12 great grandfather

Hi , I'm looking for info on Michael O'Brien and Catherine Walsh who married in St Nicholas Church Dublin in 1848. I believe they went to New York because my Great grandfather Thomas O'Brien was born in Brooklyn approx 1857. However it gets complicated because Thomas then turns up back in Dublin in 1894 getting married to Mary McLoughlin. They had a daughter Florence who I think was born in Ireland, but they then moved to Glasgow in Scotland where my grandmother Mary O'Brien was born in May 1904. They also had a son Terence who was born  in 1909. He became a priest so no descendants there ! Florence became a nun, so no family there ! I would like to find out when and why Thomas went back to Ireland and also if he left family behind in Brooklyn. I hope someone can shed some light on this brick wall. Thanks Jane

Hi everyone! I'm an American O'Brien, born in Brooklyn, NY and living in New Jersey...but coming over for The Gathering!! DO you know if any O'Briens have an event planned? I'm coming with my son, Michael, in honor of my Dad, Donald Joseph Michael O'Brien, who passed away on December 30, 2011. WE can't think of a better place to mark the anniversary...but are desperate to hook up with "family members" and by that, I mean anyone else named O'Brien!! I also hope to stay on and live in Ireland for awhile but am worried about getting a job...any advice? thanks, Patti

Looking for my 3G grandfather Michael O'Brien and his wife Julia Coffee's marriage.There is one obscure mention of their son Patrick's birth in Mallow, Cork, Ireland around 1842.  Michael & Julia are found in Burlington VT in the 1850 census and then settled in Hinesburg VT until their deaths in 1892. I'm trying to find out how they came to VT from Ireland.

I'm looking for information on a James O'Brien my gg-grandfather..supposedly born in Cork on 15 August 1851....became a "Captain's Servant" on a Royal Navy ship around 1863...mother's maiden name was McDonald, father's Baptismal name was John.  James married Elizabeth Haws about 1872 in Outagamie Co., Wi.USA. Any help/information would be greatly appreciated...thanks.

We are looking for information on Bartholomew O'Brien who was born (we believe) in 1862. He married Catherine Browne (date unknown) and had a son, Michael, in 1883 or 1884. They moved to Cappoquin, County Waterford circa 1884/5 and had six more children, of whom we have a fair bit of information. Unfortunately my Great Grandfather was Michael, and although family recollections are that he and his parents were originally from Cork, we have not yet found firm evidence of that. Anybody with a Bartholomew O'Brien in their family trees may be of help to us!

I have gone back to my 5th or 6th GF Lawrence O'Bryan, born in County Cork, Ireland; came to US through Maryland; settled in Richmond County, NC by 1750s.

Any relation?
