    what names and areas do you have for the Pettyjohn family? my grandmother was originally a Pettyjohn, she had a half-sister who I believe moved to California and died there.

    My Robert & Sarah Sage, Sr., ran the Wilmington, N.C., to New Bern stage Line and Sage's Inn at which President Washington spend the night on his 1790's Southern Tour. My guess is Robert Sage was from Bristol, England? Robert was a brick mason; the Bristol Sages were tilers and plasterers. Both Sage families named daughters Hetty and Hestor.
