There was an article written in the HOGAR de Dallas Journal vol XI, 2008, "The Slaves of Monterrey, Nuevo Leon" by Crispin Rendon and others which used the notary and church records to find slave roots. The LDS Library was making the HOGAR journal articles available online but might have stopped since some HOGAR members objected. However, since this article was a compilation of various articles which appeared on an online journal www.SomosPrimos.com, you might search there.
