Fred, I am quite convinced that John Thomas, son of Tufts Thomas is the father of Merrill Thomas for the reasons that Daisy listed. the dates and locations appear to line up. As I mentioned to Daisy I just have not seen a list of John's offspring. AS to DNA studies, you are way past my effort - which is just beginning. It would be something if the James Thomas line could be traced back to England or Scotland. By the way Merrill Thomas has two head stones- one in Byron (the first and one in Andover, ME. Not sure why he has two. My email: cecilia121@myfairpoint.net
Fred, I am related to Merrill Thomas of Byron, ME - born Oct 10, 1812 in Norway, ME - I believe Merrill Thomas is related to Tufts Thomas. Also, next to the headstone of Merrill Thomas in Andover, ME is a stone for Fred S. Thomas born around 1836??. Are you related to the Fred S. Thomas? I note a Fred and Daisy Thomas of Sebago Lake, ME have done some research on the Thomas line. Are you related to this Fred Thomas?
Fred, I am related to Merrill Thomas of Byron, ME. Merrill was born in Norway Maine Oct 10, 1812. There is a Fred Thomas that used to be from Sebago Lake, ME that did research on the Thomas line. That research led him to Byron, ME. From there he traced the Thomas line back to Tufts Thomas born June 14, 1733. The line goes back to James Thomas of Dover, NH. Next to the Merrill Thomas headstone in Andover, ME is a stone for Fred S. Thomas 183? to 192? (I don't recall the dates exactly). Are you related to the Fred Thomas of Byron/Andover, ME?
