Thanks Janet. I met Christina Castano and I gave her your email address! Thanks alot. The Castano Familia is scattered all over and a great percentage of us haven't the slightest idea of where we come from. Janet you are truly an angel!!!
Janet, I have a map from SFA library of the land grants in Hardin Co. I see your Faustino Chavano grant. His land is farther down the map from Gregoria Garcia's. His was located between Hull & Daisetta....on Pine Island Bayou
The land grant was from a 3-4th uncle, Gregoria Garcia. From the papers I have, it looks like it sold it shortly after getting the grant. It was in Hardin Co. I have other papers over the years where he sold parts of it. Several family members lived on the land in the 50's. Sun Oil came in & the courts ruled in their favor....no money vs oil company!!
Janet, UDC is "United Daughters of the Confederacy". I've done research from the Blake Collection at SFA. Including a copy of our Spanish land grant documents. Simon Garcia, born in Nac Co. married in LA & raised his family there. GR GR Grandfather Robert returned to TX along with a brother & sister.
