My MURPHY family was in Mercer, Jessamine and on into Kenton County, Ky. As far back as I can go is to my gg-gf, Daniel Murphy, born 1828 - died ?? - married to Amanda Jane JENKINS. I descend from his son John Thomas to Lafon to Thomas F., my father. Do you see any connection? Tom
Our brick wall is William M Greer, born Dec 1868, Indiana according to the 1900 census - Redding Twp., Jackson Co., IN. I've found a Jefferson "Jeff" Greer here in the same county that had a son William M Greer, born Dec 25, 1868, but can't make the connection for sure. This Jeff Greer was living with the Steward family and listed as an uncle. William Greer's wife Alice Weasner ended up marrying the son of this family in 1904 in St Louis, MO. My mother-in-law said all she knows about her grandfather was that he was killed by a train. My problem with this is she told me that about the Steward Alice married, too. Down the road from the Stewards is a William Greer, same age, married to a girl about half his age with a youngster. My suspicions are that he, William, divorced Alice and married the girl. Alice had had 3 children before 1900, 1 survived - my mother-in-law's mom. Jeff Greer was born 1839-May 1842 in Kentucky and died 18 Apr 1912, Jackson Twp., Jackson Co., IN.
He was listed as a Civil War pensioner in the 1900 census.
Lukas, I'm trying to find the mother of Elizabeth Willoughby, b. 1839, Beaver Co., PA. Her father is believed to be Charles Willoughby. His offspring settled in Ripley Co., IN. I haven't found any in Kentucky, so far.
Lukas, I am back doing genealogy and have made a Willoughby group in this section... just look up Willoughby in groups and this start talking about the "Nation"
