I would like to compare DNA results with two Robertson families that may turn out to be the same family.
1. William Robertson that married Abigail Cleveland about 1787 - I believe this is the William Robertson that died in Gallatin county, Ky in 1823.

Last week I blogged about how I have been organizing and tagging all my digital photos during frequent 3 hour flights. I received several comments and questions from readers about what to do with those photos once they are tagged and organized into a meaningful architecture.
I find myself once again sitting on an airplane and thought I would take this time to…

I have just received an email from The Sprague Project. These updates used to arrive every month or so, but it is now two years since the last one.
I know the project is still alive and well, not least because of the webmaster, A. Arnold Sprague's, generous contributions to TNG users, but was becoming concerned that perhaps old age is creeping up on…

Back on January 11, 2011 I wrote a post entitled, "Update on the reliability of flashdrives." I am certainly not immune to believing Internet Myths. I am fan of the MythBusters program on TV (which I am too busy to watch) but interestingly some of the myths they set out to disprove actually turn out to be true. But the opposite is very much more likely. Information passed around on the Internet…

I spend a lot of time flying back and forth between Houston and Los Angeles to visit my family. The flight is 3 hours and last year I made a commitment to spend that three hour time period working on sorting, identifying and tagging all of my digital photos. By the time we take off, get our complimentary beverages, prepare for the descent, it probably works out to about 2 hours but that time I have totally dedicated to this task. I decided to focus this time on this…

Every now and then I have to take a break from the genealogy. I don't know why. I am addicted to the core, but I think it has something to do with interference from the present--children to raise, holidays to celebrate, new memories to forge.
The Nave/Naves branch of my father's family from Kentucky is a serious thorn in my side. Even after a visit to Kentucky this summer I am not much closer to finding the origins of Thomas Naves (1823-1866) who was married to Mary…
