William J Oliphant was the son of William Oliphant who came from Dunfermline in Fife in Scotland. The family moved around the States before ending up in Austen, TX. We know a lot about the genealogy of this family but not DNA yet. A great many of the other Oliphants in TX originated in SC but not necessarily from the same parents. We suspect that most of the original Oliphants who came out of SC to TN,TX MS etc were brothers. DNA is the only way that we will find out now.

I just discovered from Sorenson DNA (female) that I am connected to the Oliphant and Buckley lines. Marshall Evander Buckley b. 1848 MS md Maria Elizabeth Oliphant b. 1864 in Tennessee. This would be my mothers line I suppose. She was Jessie Mae Price (married my father Charles Burton Byars Sr) her mother was Mary Ellen Elkins, her mother was Emma Drucilla Wood.

Question: Would the females in my ffather's side be included when a woman does the myDna test? I know nothing about DNA.
