Duncan Oliphant had a son James whose son Peter went to Canada to avoid conscription in the Continental army and was instead conscripted by the Brits to serve a wagonmaster in the British army. Another Branch, from which Anthony Oliphant is descended, started in the Maritime Provices of Canada much later.
