Tull and Ruff associated with Dekalb and Carroll County about 182x-1835
Seeking Information on Mary Tull and Allen Ruff. Mary Tull's Illegit. children had land in the Georgia Land Lottery 1827. They obtained land in Capt. Baker's District of Carroll County, Section 5, District 10, Lot 159. In 1835 they were apparently living in Walker County, Alabama when the Walker County Court ordered their land sold for the benefit of the children. Allen Ruff was listed as guardian.
The family moves around a lot and I do not find them on any census until 1840 when they are listed in Hardeman County, Tennessee. Some of the family was still in Alabama as late as 1842.
Mary Tull was born about 1795 in Maryland. She is living in Hardeman County, Tennessee 1850 without a husband. She moves to Van Zandt County, Texas and dies there in 1884.
I have found a couple Allen Ruff's in census records, but nothing to prove this is same Allen Ruff, listed as guardian of children of Mary Tull.
