Researching Benjamin Dubose who arrived in Marengo County as early as 1833 from Darlington, SC.  I believe he died about 1851 in Marengo Co. but need verification and could use any advice y'all have to offer.

My major brick wall is Otway Birchett and wife Emily Mary (mnu) who arrived in Greene Co. AL from VA about 1824 with 3 bros and a sister.  I do not know who their parents were.  My 3rd grts and sibs served as Postmasters and Sheriffs in Greene Co.  Unknown why all 3 bros seem to have moved away ... my Otway leaving in 1859 and dying in Smith Co. MS in 1859.  Had a plantation and slaves but died in debt.  Would love to find obit or something which might name their parents.  Also, dream on!, would love to know why they all left Greene Co. and what happened to brother William Henry Birchett.

I am looking for someone who could find a court record from 1844-1846 in Macon County, AL.   The case began on the county level in chancery court, which could have been in the probate court or the court of equity/Common Pleas in 1844 or 1845 and was brought by Elizabeth Davis Felder and her children against her husband, Barzilla B. Felder, and others, for the conversion of property set aside in a trust for her and her children in 1837 by Deed of her father, Budd Davis in Barnwell Co., SC.

This family apparently moved back and forth between Barnwell Co., SC and Montgomery, AL.  The case went to the Alabama Supreme Court in 1850, but the official case file in the archives of the Supreme Court is empty.  The transcript of the case from the Supreme Court in the Southeastern Reporter is truncated and does not name the children.

I am specifically looking for a copy of the original Petition on the county level, which contained the names of the children of Elizabeth and Barzilla, and would like to contact someone who could find the case for me and obtain copies.

Thank you.

My ancestors came to Alabama in 1818 and spread out.  My closest connections are in Mobile, Baldwin, Clarke and Marengo Counties.

My ancestors are from Tuscaloosa County. George W Elliott. His father was Moses Elliott, who attended the War of 1812. I can't say he fought though he may have. But he was court-martialed for desertion.
