Well, I've got all the info on the Vigus side going way back to Antony & Sheviock, in Cornwall, England, with the marriage of Edward Vigus (spelled Vigass) & Mary Gully in 1738. One of their sons, Francis Vigus (sometimes spelled as Vigurs or Vigers), born 1746, married Mary Darley in 1772. Her lineage is traced back to----please sit down-----one Edmond D'Erle who was born in Normandy, France about 1034!!!!! I didn't do all the research on that lineage back to 1034, but I have found pieces of corroborating evidence for some of it, so it might be correct, who knows. Mabel was originally Mabel Leola Thompson born 20 Oct 1892, (they lived in Cannonsville/Kelsey, NY) and her husband's name was William Edmund Vigus, born 1 Nov 1890 in Falmouth, Cornwall, England. If you need any help finding any of the Viguses in the records, I'd be happy to share whatever info I have. Even tho it is a rare name, there are quite a few other Vigus families around the US and the world, we must all be related way back somwhow.
Hi, Chip----I'm your cousin originally from Deposit, NY. I remember your family coming to Grandma Mabel's every Thanksgiving time, and your father & Skip hunting deer. I saw something you put on another site that said your Mom's actual first name was Violet rather than Marie??? If so, I believe I've found a connection to her Hollingsworth family in Nova Scotia. If Kenneth Delbert Hollingsworth & Bertha M. Selig were your Mom's parents, than I'm on the right track. PS----From some info I have found, it looks as if Lester Leaman (your Mom's second husband) was actually her cousin???
