Thanks for the help on the 3021 error. All fixed now on the desktop BUT now a
problem on the laptop one. I think it's a Windows problem but "any port in a storm".
I get a Run time error 380
Invalid property value
When I try to open Legacy. I re-ran the Legacy setup.exe but no change.
Any Ideas? Thanks.

Cool, thanks Ron. I never thought of doing that. It would be great if that could be realized.

Sarah, I have reported your problem to Legacy and it has been registered as a bug, so hopefully will be corrected in the not too distant future.
Lew open Legacy and go to file file maintenance and then click on check and repair that should fix your problem very quickly. I happened to me a few years ago.

Ron or "someone who has had the problem and solved ti" :-)
Recently deleted several names (due to finding they were duplicated) and then
later added some new ones which the program assigned the "un-used" RIN #
Fine ; Then when added a few more the program pops up a small window :
__________________________________________________
ERROR
(red O with X in it) Error getting next deleted MRN
Error 3021: No current rrecord
Would you like to try again
(buttons) YES NO Quit Online help
___________________________________________________
The YES just comes back ti the same window,
Quit really does Quit the program
NO doesn't do anything the first click but a second will
get the program back to working.
This did NOT happen in the past when I have done this, admittedly it's been
quite a while (probably a year or so) since I have.
So why does the program continue looking for un-used RIN #s after it has
used up the ones generated, and even more important How do I stop it. :-)
My version started out as 7.0 up dated to 7.5 and as far as I know up-dated
with latest bit and pieces automatically.
Thanks.

Hi Ron,
I already tried that and the birth, death, burial descriptions do not go into the note field. I have found, so far, the only thing that happened was a few source errors were put into the note field for unrecognized items. The only alternative I can see would be to put all those description fields into the note fields in my Ancestry DB which is not feasible as I have so many. Guess I am out of luck on this one. Thanks,
Sarah
If, when importing your GEDCOM, you click the option of putting unrecognised items in the Notes, Field then the vital events Description details should go there. I have not tested this, but it is what I would expect.
Thanks Brian. That is what I figured. My notes transfer fine from the "Note" field in Ancestry and so do all those URL's for pictures also. I can get rid of those URL's in a Chron report but not some other reports. That is too bad as I have so many things in the birth, death, burial description fields. I also have FTM2012 and 2011 and the description fields are not an issue but of course those are Ancestry products and the fields match.
Thanks so much for your input, Brian.

Friends of Legacy,
I haven't used it that much so I find out today that a GEDCOM file downloaded from Ancestry.com into Legacy is lacking a few items I never noticed before. In a birth, death and burial record the description field I have in Ancestry.com does not load into the GEDCOM file. I have many descriptions I put into those fields and find this disturbing. For example, I might have a person that I enter a death event for and put notes in the "description" field. Another is the burial field where I put in the date, place of burial (town (city), county, state, country and then add the cemetery name and location of burial into the "description" field in my DB on Ancestry.com. This "description" information does not transfer into a GEDCOM file for Legacy.
For other events where I put information into the description field they transfer into a GEDCOM file fine. I went to the Legacy site and cannot find any information about this question at all. Am I just doing something wrong or is that feature not available? Thanks,
Sarah
Pretty neat, isn't it Lew? I did not know anything about that option at all. I am not one to read manuals, etc. I recently received a copy of Geoff Rasmussen's book, The Official Unofficial Guide to Using Legacy Family Tree and have yet to read it and I should. I did read the intro and he keeps the book light with a sense of humor so it definitely will be good reading when I ever find the time!
