Betsy Shipman Gates, Betsey Gates Mills
When I lived in New England I bought a book called Grandmother's Letters. It is a selection of letters from Betsey Shipman Gates to her daughter Betsey Gates Mills and was prepared by Mary Dawes Beach Christmas 1926. The letters run roughly 1875 to 1892. Places mentioned are Marietta and Crawfordsville. Don't know the states, perhaps the midwest.

Hokie Smokes Kate I didn't realize they were that well known or the book is so rare. Thanks for posting. I bought the book at an antiquarian book show in Woodstock or Burlington VT.
