Joseph Rodgers was born abt 1810-11 in NC. He married an lady named Elizabeth and the census reports her as being from SC. They came to Ala where they had Dorah Angelina abt July 1844.
I found them in 1860 Hardin County TX with Dorah living at home. In 1870, Dorah is with her husband, William Stephen Cross and is missing from the family.

BTW, the "CROP" family in the 1860 Census is actually "CROSS". (The double "s" was often written in a way to resemble our modern "p" or "f". )You find them again in the 1870 Census, correctly transcribed. Stephen Cross, shown in the 1860 census, is my great-great-grandfather, and Joseph Rodgers would be my 3rd great-grandfather.
