Interested particularly in locating German ancestory of the KLING surname, emigrated to Pennsylvania, USA about 1732, and resided in Lancaster county. Lutheran. Other German surnames are BARNHART/BERMHARDT in Berks county area of Pennsylvania 1700s and STOECKEL and BIEBER from Alsace to Pennsylvania 1850s.

My Grandfather Allen Morley Hodgkinson was born in Hamburg Germany Dec. 1, 1892. His parents were Frederick Field Hodgkinson and Alice Morley. Frederick Field was a diplomat from England. Their were other children that I am trying to trace. I understand that their was as sister Alice? that married a German citizen.

Patrice Houck Schadt, stated in her earlier comment that her ancestor died in Monroe County, PA. However Monroe County did not exist and was formed from Pike and Northampton a few years later. Suggest you look for records in these counties, and you might find records of yout ancestor?

Hi, I'm looking for information on my maternal Great grandfather. I found my Great Grandfather, Cornelius Rah (b:1857, d:1930) who immigrated from Hannover, Germany in 1868. However, I cannot find his passenger records or who he came over with. He would have only been 11 years old. So I would have thought it would have been with his parent or a parent. Looking for Wommer ancestery in Saar region of Germany. Have ancestors back to 1641 time frame, but nothing earlier. Ancestors settled in Eitzweiler, a small village west of Freisen. Show having two children, Anna Mary (Marie) & Hans Michael.

I would like to trace my ancestor, John Mest, born about 1822 in Wurttemberg. The name may have been spelled differently, possibly Moest. I do not know the town he lived in or his immigration info. Not even sure on the last name of his wife, Anna Kohler or Fosler. They came to the US with one son about 1 year old, settled in Sheldon, Wyoming County. They may have been in Berks County, PA before coming to Sheldon, as there are many Mests there.

I'm researching my Golze, Maisch and Jakob lines. My Maisch family appears to be from Hanau, I'm not sure what part of Germany my Golze line originated from, and my Jakob lines appears to be Austrian.

I am searching for info on John Fisher - Born in Germany 9/15/1855. Naturalized in 1875. He was a blacksmith and I know he lived in Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois and ended in St. Louis where he died 5/14/1873. I am also trying to find out about Bonifacius (Boniface) Schmidt and Julianna Kern Schmidt. I know he was born in 1824 and lived in Hebersheim Baden. She was born 3/14/1825 in Ringsheim Baden. I don't know if they came here together. They were married in St. Louis 11/27/1850. Any help would be appreciated.

My great-great-grandfather was Johnas Georg Bader who went by the name of George Bader. He fought in the war of 1848. In 1850 he came to America with his wife, two small children and his brother. In Ohio, his wife died but he kept moving on to Iowa. When the Civil war broke out, he mustered up and fought until he was mustered out in 1865. Then along with his children, he arrived in Jamestown, Colorado Territory. They moved to the plains and set up their home where he built a school - the Bader School House is still standing today.
His eldest daughter, Mary Elizabeth married a neighbor - the homesteader of Haystack Mountain, William Arbuthnot - these are my great-grandparents.
I would love to know more about the war of 1848 and why the Germans left in 1850. I'd also like to continue the family tree back. I've been told that J. George Bader's father was Konrad Bader. That's all I have.

I also have an ancestor who was in the 1848 war, he was jailed and escaped to America in 1849. I found good info on Wikipedia and on Google Books. My ancestor was jailed because he was part of the rebellion.

Looking for Wetecamps from Hameln to Ohio and also Knerr from Bavaria (or Prussia - depends on the record) also landing in Ohio. Knerrs near Dayton Ohio by early 1800s, Wetecamp were a bit later but Henry G wetecamp was a soldier in Union for Ohio during civil war.

I am researching the last name of Bretz that may have been changed from Breest. I have not had a lot of luck with this over the last few years. My Grandfather was named Rayford Lawerence Bretz and his father was Henry George Bretz from Toledo, Ohio any help would be appreciated.

I an searching for relatives of Carl Michler, born about 1830 or 1832. he immigrated to South Africa in 1860. From published records, he came from Steinrode.

My 6th great-grandfather Nicolaus Stagner (Stegner, Staganer, Stagener) was living in York Co, PA as early as 1753. I have a copy of his land survey from 1753 and a copy of his will dated 17 April 1759, proven 29 Nov 1764. I have not been able to find him on a ship's passenger list because his name was not listed under any of these variations.
