I am an adopted Nier -- George Joseph Nier, Jr. was my step-father. I can trace his paternal lineage back to the early 1800s in Rochester, NY. He told me he thought his ancestors came from Prussia. I wasn't listening much back then, but I have certainly become more interested in the past decade.
