My g,g,great-grandfather came over in 1910 on the President Lincoln it has him visiting a brother "Marijus" Gatulis on 4th street in Boston MA and his dad is listed as Kasimeras Gatulis. I think he was born in Draseikiai, Russa.
I'm also looking for his wife who he supposidly met on the boat on the way over. I cant find any record of her before the 1920 census ad shes listed as Christina Gatulis born in Lithuania abt 1890.
Beth-Marie,
Gatulis is not a wicked common name. There are only 7 men with that name listed in the internet phone directory, and only 13 if you include the single and married women. You might want to try writing letters to these people in Lithuania and see if there's a connection.
There are three Draseikiai villages: one in the Biržai area, one in the Kaunas region, and one in the Panevėžys region. Do you know which one your gggf came from? On the manifest, there are letters written in front of the -"drasejku" part, which are difficult to make out, but it looks like the first letter is a cursive "F"...which just confuses everything.
To find out Christina's maiden name, you'll probably have to go through church or administrative marriage records. (See the front page in the Massachusetts forum of the Lithuanian group for links).
