I worked on a brick wall for over 30 years too.My dad was adopted back in 1927, birth records remain sealed, but 2 months ago I just happened to type in my dads name on Ancestory.com and found his baptism record which showed his birth parents names. So dont give up Albertus as Carmel said new records are being made available every day for us to search....your great wall of China will come down too... perhaps if you shared some more about the wall others could toss out some ideas

Do not give up Albertus, I bought one down after more than 30 yrs of research. Still have more to take a mallett to but this was a biggy. one of the great things about new records being transcribed, scanned etc by volunteers and paid workers it opening up soooo many closets it is great. Some things can be found in obscure places and other right under your nose.

Thank you so much Randall.. I had my full zoom, glasses, and magnifying glasses on. I could not figure it out since I know Thompson was a name she went by. Also thanks so much for the other info you have sent to me.. YOU ARE AWSOME!!! I have worked on this brick wall for so long and you broke it for me. Thanks so much, if you ever need help in Colorado or Wyo.. let me know, or any other thing I love doing brick walls....
It is amazing how wonderful some writting is and in others it gets worse and worse... and it seems to always get bad on the info you need.. It does make sense though on the death for this daughter it was during the influenza outbreak and from storied I heard from my Grandmother so many died it was hard to keep up.
Once again thank you so much....

When I clicked on the Death Cert, on her maiden it shows either Hauf or Vauf something. I could not find Thompson listed. So did I miss something on the cert? Let me know.
Thanks Connie

Wow many thanks Randall. You got my wall. I knew from the marriage cert to James that her name was listed as Brown, but in an obit for one of her daughters in the 50's it showed as Ada Hilley Thompson. I knew of several children that were older but not Rudelle. Several of those were from James's first marriage. My Grandmother was born in Iva so I am sure that Ira and Iva are one in the same.
I just assumed she might of remarried after her discharge from Hospital with slight possiblity of Brown being her maiden. I have been focused first on Elbert county but did go with other counties along with GA/ SC northern line. So now I know which is actually her Maiden name thanks to you. Now I can find out what happened to her and where she is buried.
Thanks again.. Connie

Thank you Randall
That helps a lot so I am going to hit the GA Marriages for Browns to see if I can find her marriage to Mr Brown. That should show me her Maiden name. Thanks for your help.

I have a brickwall with my G Grandmother. Ada Hilley. She was born abt 1880 in GA. I do not know her parents names. She married in 1908 to James Hilley in Elbert GA. They moved to Anderson county SC area, The last documentation I have on her was in the 1930 SC Census. She was in the state hospital and it listed her as Divorced. The next listing on her shows her as Ada Thompson Hilley (also Ada Hilley Tompson) mother of deceased. I can't find anything on her as to what happend to her, if she was married before she married my G Grandfather James. So I have looked under both Brown and Thompson to see if I could find her parents. As for after 1930 I can't find anything showing a marriage, death or anything in both SC and GA. Any suggestions or tips. SC is kinda hard to search in due to the the records being held in county Courth house, you just have to figure out which county. Thanks.
