I love the census online. There is an online FREE census sites. I don't believe in paying for something if it is offered free. If you are interested in this site it is:

I love census records and have used them a lot. However, for older records in other countries I ave found church records to be the most helpful.

I have family living in Japan, France and Germany. I would like to do the Genealogy study for them. Any ideas?

I love the census records and use them all the time. I use them when looking for people too. I take the date they were born and county if known and look for that surname.
On www.Rootsweb.com if you go to the broads and do the state and county. You can find census records online.

Thanks, Rick. That should be interesting. I'm not prepared to relinquish the analysis of an FASG, however. Do share and let's see how it works.

Dae,
Somewhere I have bookmarked a link to a piece of software that allegedly will do the tic mark analysis for you. I will see if I can find it and add it later.

Has anyone analysed the Federal Census for tick-marks? ES Mills has written three fine articles which delve into this subject. Also, I'm sure many would enjoy some handwriting deciphering. Some enumerators were real scribblers!
