I have some ancestors from Perthshire (Muthill, Blackford) about whom I would like to find more than just BMDs. Are there any diarists, journals or court records for this area from say 1750? The surnames are Watson, Barclay, White and McNaughton

My Scottish ancestors according to census records would be Isabella Mason, daughter of Andrew Mason. They moved to Pennsylvania (Norristown area.) I believe Isabella came over in May of 1822 (according to passenger logs) from Greenock, Scotland with Jean, Hugh and another child on board the Sachem. (Andrew was not aboard this ship, and I have not been able to find when he came across the pond.) I have not been able to find any information about them IN Scotland, though.

Has anyone come across the Masons? Isabella was born ~1820.

Looking for ancestors of Agnes Spear or Speir b Oct 1741 in Low Parish, Paisley, Renfrew, Scotland. I believe her parents were John Speir and Mary Hogsheart.

Also looking for ancestors of David Edward Smith born in Sutherland before 1705, and his wife Margaret Thompson daughter of Henry Thompson. Their son, David Edward Smith, Jr. was born in East Fife and emigrated to Novia Scotia in 1771.

My ancestor Jane Hutcheson was born in Ayrshire, Ayr Co. Scotland on 04 Oct 1881. She married Alexander William Watt, b. 04 Mar 1804, in Moffet, Lanarklier, Scotland. They married 20 Jan 1826 in Muirkuk, Lanarkshire Co.Her parents were John Hutcheson b. ca 1777 and Elizabeth Finlayson b. 1781.

Alexander's father John Watt was born in Aberdeenshire, Parish Aboyne and Glentannar, County Aberdeenshire, Parish number 170, Scotland in ca 1786 and married Jannet Crawford. They immigrated to the US in 1856 and settled in Pennsylvania then moved to Sparland IL and finally settled in Dodge Co NE.

This is my brick wall.

Quoting Fred Close "Just started researching the family of Alexander Erskine born May 1842"

Do you have any other information that would be helpful? There's 2 candidates in the 1851 census transcription:
parents Jane & William, in Edinburgh
parents John & Susan, boorn Fife, living in Lanark.
Do you have their Pittsburgh marriage certificate?

Just started researching the family of Alexander Erskine born May 1842 somewhere in Scotland and Marion Morris born the in December 1850. I believe that both traveled to Pittsburgh and met and married there and began raising a family with the first born, Janet in 1873.

I am looking for resources as Scotland seems quite different than England.

I am new to this group. My family is Paterson. My great, great, grandfather Dr James Paterson was a witness in the Pritchard Case in Glasgow. The family is from an old Scottish family. A lot of the family members settled in Australia. My
great grandfather was William Hunter Paterson from Gladstone Queensland.
