hi, I'm Stevie Scott. My mother's side of family came from Vikaviskis during first w/war. Sadly the parish church there was burned down during the 2nd. w/war and almost all records wrere lost. I have met up with my father's side of family and we now all visit each other regularly. I have many cousins there. They are now searching the archives in Vilnius for any info. relating to the Vilkaviskis parish. I will let you know if I get anywhere with this, good luck in your own search. At what age did your g/father leave Lithuania?

Hi Stephanie,
First, you'd do better to make this kind of post directly in the group, in the discussion forums for Alytus County and Marijampole County (Vilkaviskis), that way all group members could see your post.

However, I checked the internet phone directory and the closest I found was a Janina Noruišienė, not Norusaviciene. You can find the links to the two internet phone directory sites on the front page of the group. The other thought is that maybe your grandfather has the spelling wrong; maybe it's Narusaviciene. There are some Narusavicius/iene in Alytus. Maybe you could write to them and ask if they know Janina. Also, by Googling, I found a Janina Narusaviciene who is a member of an electoral committee, but that is in the Kedainiai region, not Alytus.

I've never tried anything like this, but maybe the library in Alytus could help somehow? The link is on the page for Alytus County in the group. The site is in Lithuanian, you might try Google translator to read it if you don't know Lithuanian. There's a link for 'contacts', and maybe an email to one of the librarians there might yield something.

I can tell you that a lot of records for the Vilkaviskis area were destroyed in the wars, so as you search back, it will be difficult. But you should fare better with the Alytus area.
