For anyone who is researching Primrose in Scotland. The family originates in Culross/Kincardine, Perthshire (now in Fife). My Primroses ended up in Lanarkshire and Ayr, then scattered around the world.

Hi, I am Scott McKay, I am Researching Primroses for a friend. In the next couple of days I will give names and dates. Thankyou.
Hi everyone,
I descend from Buchanan Stewart and Jean Primrose who married 1794 in Paisley, Renfrewshire. I have a line going back to Peter before 1490 but can not swear to it's accuracy.
I have entered my DNA from FTM to Gedmatch and Wikitree and have been lucky to find a cousin who descends from Buchanan and Jean Primrose Stewart.
Jean is possibly a daughter of William Primrose and Agnes Ure. Can anyone prove or disprove this?
It would be wonderful to hear from you,
Elizabeth
James Primrose, Clerk of the Privy Council, had 2 wives: Sybilla Miller and then shortly after her death, Catherine Lawson. I will have to dig in my files to see which wife was Katherine Primrose Hall's mother. James was the son of David Primrose and Janet Blaw, grandson of Henry. There are a few Peter Primroses in the extended family.
Be careful of suggestions on Ancestry and especially family trees. It is best to research anything that you find. The Primroses used family names very repetitiously so this can lead to much confusion.
Good day to all I would like to know of anyone can help me with a Peter Primrose born 1614 and a James Primrose born in 1542. Both of these gentleman appear on ancestry.com as being my ancestors. I would love to know more about them. I have seen a Catherine Primrose that married a Thomas Hall and Katherine Primsose that married a John Hall. I am a descendant of the Hall line in the US. Thanks, Daniel
I (she) answer questions that I have been asked. I had help from a gentleman at the Scottish Genealogy Society who retrieved the Primrose Scroll from a nearby genealogy research facility. Unfortunately, this Edward is not on the section that I recorded.
Jamie L. Dikeman does not tell us where he saw the "Primrose/Rosebery scroll" in Scotland in 2014, but if you can study it, I expect you will find your Edward Primrose b 1734. Edward is an unusual name in Scotland 9probably because of Bruce's enemies the Kings Edwards I and II), but in my line there are Edward P. born in 1713., 5.1754,, 1760, 1826 and 1838.
hi my 4th great grandfather edward primrose born 1734 tulliallan perthshire could anyone help me get further back on him i would be very grateful for any help thankyou
Many thanks for this information. It is curious that the first name listed is then not her father's. In case I fail to find a photo of the scroll, could you be so kind as to send me yours? That would be extremely helpful !
I saw the Primrose Scroll in Scotland in the summer of 2014 while visiting. I took a picture of the section which pertains to my part of the Primrose line. The John and Janet Milne/Mylne are on the scroll. Janet is the daughter of David, grand-daughter of Henry, and great grand-daughter of David Primrose and Janet Blaw. The Rosebery line descends from David and Janet through their son James.
