Barbara, you might try Surgeons Hall, Edinburgh which has records of people qualifying in medicine. You need to write to them and they will look in their records. Don't be put off by the name they have many records.

Thanks for your comments Betty. I'm very new to reseaching Scottish records so am not yet aware what ia avialable on line yet. I'll certainly have a look at the site you mentioned though I don't know for definite his religion. He married in Antigua in St Georges Church and has a memorial tablet in the cathedral there. He qualified in Medicine in Edinburgh.

I am looking information regarding Henry Urquhart who married Jane Watt and moved to Canada around 1940.
Henry was born around 1820 and died 1873 in Montreal and Jane was born around 1820 and died 1864 in Montreal.
I am trying to work backwards and I found a marriage certificate for around 1840 but I am not sure if it is accurate. If any one is researching Urquharts, I would like to know to see if we have common ancestors Thank you

I am looking fro family of Henry Hart, b. Dumbarton, SCT, 1863. He was in the US in 1899 (NJ). He had a brother (Patrick) also in New Jersey who died in 1903. (the brother's family died within a year except for a daughter and son who went to live with the wife's relatives (Mulvey & Dickens) in Philadelphia.

Henry's parents were Henry Hart & Mary Ann (Young). There are many descendants of this marriage living in the US, Scotland, Ireland, England, Canada, Germany and Australia.

Henry and any family he may have had are the only line we can not find.

Looking for the family on Eleanor Balfour Tinch and James Stewart. The family settled in Dundee Scoltand area.
James Stewart and his wife Eleanor Balfour Tinch had four children

Can not lookup information on Scotlandspeople.gov.uk I don't carry a credit card.

Barbara, Do you haveany idea of his religion? The Old Parish Registers [OPR's] are all on line at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk but they only cover the Church of Scotland registers. There are a lot of non conformist registers in the National Archives of Scotland but they are no online. Do you know where he got his medical qualification as that may also help.

My Scottish ancestors are the PEDDIE family.
My ggg grandfather Robert Peddie was born in Kelso around 1800. I've been unable to find any evidence of his birth/baptism. We became a surgeon and went to Antigua where he died in 1841. I have a lot of info about his life in Antigua but any early life in Scotland is a mystery still. Does anyone have any access to Kelso PRs who could do a look up for me around 1841.

Lois. You do not give a time frame for any of the families you are looking for so difficult to help. Have you tried www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk which has BMD's, census and wills?
